With a combination of informal training, ceramic studio internships, and being self taught I had decided in 2019 to turn my life long passion into a career. Pursuing ceramics as a full-time job, I aspire to share my creations which are pieces of me and are dear to my heart with love, honor and respect out to the world.
I aim to create home decor and functional pottery that allow mindfulness of being in the moment, to reflect on ones life and to embrace giving ones self, self care. With an appreciation for narrative imagery and decorative details created through embossing and hand sculpting. My wares are adorn with a combination of inlayed embossings and three-dimensional sculpted sprigged elements that convey joy, life, traditions, self empowerment, our human connection to nature and admiration for the moon.
My practice consists of hand building techniques that require the use of slab building, coiling, sculpting, carving, hand modeling methods of pinching and altering and with the use of sprig and molds. These methods highlight my I love for texture and relief style applications. My current glazing process is a combination of underglaze washes of inlaying, watercolor style layering applications and the use of mid range, lead free, food safe glazes. Though my production method of practice consists of developing multiples of items created in batch sets each hand crafted ware is unique and stands alone.
